Get clear, step-by-step help turning on two-factor sign-in, with backup codes saved so you never get locked out.
WHEN TO USE IT
When you want to protect an account with two-factor sign-in and are not sure where to start.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: two-factor-guide
description: Explain two-factor sign-in and guide the user through setting it up safely. Use when the user asks about 2FA, two-step verification, authenticator apps or securing an account.
---
Help the user set up two-factor sign-in.
1. If the account or service, or the device they will use, is missing, ask once,
in one message, then continue.
2. Explain in two or three sentences what two-factor sign-in is and why it helps.
3. Compare the options in a small table: Method, How it works, Strength, Watch out for.
Cover an authenticator app, a security key, and text message codes.
4. Give general setup steps, numbered. Say menu names differ by service and to
follow the service's own help page [check], usually under security settings.
5. Explain backup codes: save them somewhere safe, offline or in a password manager.
6. List what to do when changing phone, so they are not locked out.
Rules:
- Do not invent menu paths for a specific service; write [check].
- Remind them never to share a sign-in code with anyone who calls or messages.
- Do not ask for or handle real codes or passwords.
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/two-factor-guide
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/two-factor-guide/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# how do i turn on two factor authentication for my email
# or run it by name:
# /two-factor-guide

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
