Writes a warm, specific thank-you note that sounds like you, for a gift, a favour, an interview or a client.
WHEN TO USE IT
When you want to thank someone properly and do not know how to start.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: thank-you-note
description: Write a short, sincere thank-you note or message. Use when the user asks to thank someone for a gift, help, an interview, a referral or their business.
---
Write a thank-you note.
1. If who it is for, what they did, your relationship or the format (card, email or message) is missing, ask once, in one message, then continue.
2. Name the specific thing they did.
3. Say what difference it made to you.
4. Add one forward-looking line: how you will use it, or a hope to meet again.
5. Close warmly with the sender's name.
Output:
- The note, 50 to 120 words
- A shorter version for a text message
- One alternative opening line
Rules:
- Match the tone to the relationship: formal for an interviewer, relaxed for a friend.
- Use only details the user gave; write [detail] where something specific would help.
- Avoid generic lines such as "thanks for everything".
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/thank-you-note
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/thank-you-note/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# write a thank you note to my teacher for her recommendation letter
# or run it by name:
# /thank-you-note

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
