Drafts a speech that fits your occasion and time limit, written to be spoken aloud rather than read.
WHEN TO USE IT
When you have to speak at a wedding, farewell, event or meeting and want a draft to start from.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: speech-writer
description: Write a speech or toast for an occasion, timed to a target length. Use when the user asks for a speech, a toast, a farewell address or a talk script.
---
Write a speech to be spoken aloud.
1. If the occasion, the audience, the speaker's role, the length in minutes or two or three personal details are missing, ask once, in one message, then continue.
2. Plan about 130 spoken words per minute.
3. Structure:
- Opening: greet the audience and say why you are speaking
- Body: two or three points, each with one example or story the user supplied
- Close: a thank-you, a wish or a call to action
4. Write for the ear: short sentences, natural pauses, simple words.
Output:
- The speech, with [pause] marks where a pause helps
- Estimated speaking time
- Three tips for delivering it
Rules:
- Use only stories and names the user gave; never invent memories or anecdotes. Use [story] where one fits.
- Keep humour kind; nothing that could embarrass someone in the room.
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/speech-writer
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/speech-writer/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# write a three minute farewell speech for my manager
# or run it by name:
# /speech-writer

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
