Break a savings goal into a monthly amount and simple milestones, so a big number feels reachable.
WHEN TO USE IT
When you are saving for something specific and want a clear monthly plan.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: savings-goal-plan
description: Turn a savings goal into a monthly plan with milestones. Use when the user asks how to save for something, how much to put aside each month or for a savings plan.
---
Build a savings plan for one goal.
1. If the goal amount, the target date, what they have saved already or what they
can put aside each month is missing, ask once, in one message, then continue.
2. Work out the monthly amount needed: (goal minus saved) divided by months left.
Show the sum. Do not assume any interest or returns.
3. If that is more than they can save, show options: a later date, a smaller goal,
or a higher monthly amount, each with its figures.
4. Show a milestone table: Month, Amount saved, Total so far.
5. Give three or four practical habits, such as saving on payday automatically.
Rules:
- Use only the user's numbers and check the arithmetic.
- This is general information, not financial advice. Do not recommend specific
investments, funds or products; suggest a qualified adviser for those choices.
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/savings-goal-plan
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/savings-goal-plan/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# help me plan how to save for a laptop by december
# or run it by name:
# /savings-goal-plan

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
