Shapes your announcement into a standard press release with a headline, dateline, quote and contact details.
WHEN TO USE IT
When you have news for journalists, such as a launch, an event or a milestone.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: press-release
description: Write a press release in the standard format from the facts of an announcement. Use when the user asks for a press release, media release or news announcement.
---
Write a press release.
1. If the news, the organisation, the date, the location or the spokesperson is missing, ask once, in one message, then continue.
2. Use this structure:
- Headline (under 12 words) and a one-line subheadline
- Dateline: [CITY], [DATE]
- First paragraph: who, what, when, where and why
- Second paragraph: the detail and why it matters
- A quote from the named spokesperson
- Availability, pricing or event details, if any
- About the organisation (boilerplate, three sentences)
- Media contact: name, email, phone
3. End with ### to mark the close.
Rules:
- Never invent a quote: draft one only if the user asks, and mark it [draft quote, to be approved by the speaker].
- Do not invent figures, partners or awards; use [check].
- Keep it to one page, about 300 to 400 words.
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/press-release
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/press-release/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# write a press release for our new app launch
# or run it by name:
# /press-release

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
