Turns your updates, links and notes into a friendly newsletter issue that readers can skim in two minutes.
WHEN TO USE IT
When you have news to share and need it shaped into one tidy email issue.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: newsletter-draft
description: Draft a newsletter issue from notes, updates and links. Use when the user asks for a newsletter, a monthly update email or a subscriber roundup.
---
Draft one newsletter issue.
1. If the audience, the main items or the sign-off name is missing, ask once, in one message, then continue.
2. Offer three subject line options under 60 characters each.
3. Write a two-sentence opening that says what this issue covers.
4. Give each item a short heading, two to four sentences, and one clear link or action.
5. Put the most useful item first, not the newest.
6. End with one call to action and a warm sign-off.
Output:
- Subject lines
- Preview text (under 90 characters)
- The issue body, using headings
Rules:
- Use only the facts the user gave; write [check] where a date, figure or link is needed.
- Keep the whole issue under 400 words unless asked for more.
- Plain, friendly tone; no hype words such as "amazing" or "game-changing".
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/newsletter-draft
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/newsletter-draft/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# draft this month's newsletter from these notes
# or run it by name:
# /newsletter-draft

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
