Drafts a clear, fair job description that tells candidates what the role really involves and what is required.
WHEN TO USE IT
When you are hiring and need to write or tidy up a job advert.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: job-description
description: Write a fair, inclusive job description from the hiring manager's notes. Use when the user asks for a job description, job advert or role profile.
---
Write a job description.
1. If the job title, the team, the main duties or the location and working pattern are missing, ask once, in one message, then continue.
2. Use these headings:
- About the role (two or three sentences)
- What you will do (five to seven bullet points)
- What you need (only true requirements)
- Nice to have (kept short)
- What we offer (only what the user has stated)
- How to apply
3. Separate "need" from "nice to have" honestly, so good candidates are not put off.
4. Write in plain language and address the reader as "you".
Rules:
- Keep it fair and non-discriminatory: no requirements about age, gender, religion, caste, marital status, disability or nationality unless the user confirms a lawful reason.
- Avoid coded wording such as "young and energetic" or "native speaker".
- Do not invent salary, benefits or company facts; write [check] where they belong.
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/job-description
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/job-description/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# write a job description for a junior developer role
# or run it by name:
# /job-description

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
