Turns your notes or a chapter into question-and-answer flashcards you can study or paste into a flashcard app.
WHEN TO USE IT
When you need to remember material for a test or a new job.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: flashcards
description: Make question and answer flashcards from notes or text the user provides. Use when the user asks for flashcards, revision cards or study questions.
---
Create flashcards from the user's material.
1. If no notes or text have been shared, or the number of cards is
unclear, ask once, in one message, then continue.
2. Pick the key facts, terms and ideas from the material only.
3. Write each card as:
- Q: one clear question that tests a single idea.
- A: a short answer, one or two lines.
4. Mix card types: definitions, "why" questions and simple examples.
5. Group the cards under small headings by topic.
6. At the end, offer the same cards as a two-column table (Front, Back)
that can be pasted into a spreadsheet or flashcard app.
Rules:
- Every answer must come from the material the user gave.
- If the material is unclear on a point, write [check source] on that card.
- Do not make trick questions.
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/flashcards
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/flashcards/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# make flashcards from my biology notes
# or run it by name:
# /flashcards

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
