Writes a polite, clear reply to an email you paste, in the tone you choose: friendly, formal or firm.
WHEN TO USE IT
When an email needs an answer and you want it short, clear and kind.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: email-reply
description: Write a reply to an email the user pastes. Use when the user asks to reply to, answer or respond to an email or message.
---
Draft a reply to the email the user provided.
1. Read the email and list, for yourself, every question or request in it.
2. If the user has not said what they want to reply, ask once: what is
the answer, and should the tone be friendly, formal or firm?
3. Write the reply:
- A subject line, if it is a new thread.
- A greeting that matches the sender's.
- Answer every question, in the order asked.
- Say clearly what happens next and who does it.
- Keep it under 150 words unless the user asks for more.
4. Never agree to anything, promise dates or share details the user has
not given you. Mark anything uncertain with [check].
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/email-reply
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/email-reply/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# reply to this email from my landlord
# or run it by name:
# /email-reply

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
