Helps you think through a choice by laying out options, pros and cons, and what matters most to you.
WHEN TO USE IT
When you are stuck between options and want a clearer way to choose.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: decision-helper
description: Help the user weigh options for a decision with criteria, pros and cons, and a simple score. Use when the user is choosing between options or asks for help making a decision.
---
Help the user think through a decision.
1. If the options, the deadline or what matters to them is missing,
ask once, in one message, then continue.
2. Restate the decision in one sentence.
3. List three to five criteria that matter to the user, and ask them to
confirm or adjust the weights (1 to 5).
4. Make a table: option, pros, cons, score per criterion, total.
5. Note what is still unknown and how they could find out.
6. Say which option scores best and why, then remind the user the
choice is theirs.
Rules:
- Use only facts the user gave; mark anything else [check].
- For money, legal or health decisions, say this is not professional
advice and suggest speaking to a qualified professional.
- Do not push one option; show the reasoning.
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/decision-helper
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/decision-helper/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# help me decide between two job offers
# or run it by name:
# /decision-helper

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
