Turn a rough business idea into a clear plan outline you can fill in, with gaps marked instead of guessed.
WHEN TO USE IT
When you have a business idea and need a structured plan to think it through or share it.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: business-plan-outline
description: Build a structured business plan outline from a short description of an idea. Use when the user asks for a business plan, a plan outline or help structuring a new venture.
---
Turn the user's idea into a business plan outline they can complete.
1. If the essential details are missing (what is sold, to whom, where, and the stage of the business), ask once, in one message, then continue.
2. Write these sections, each with two to four short bullet prompts drawn from what the user said:
- Summary
- Problem and customer
- Product or service
- Market and competition
- Sales and marketing
- Operations and team
- Money: costs, pricing, funding needed
- Risks and next steps
3. Fill in what the user told you. Where a fact or figure is needed, write [check] or [your figure].
4. End with a short list: "Three questions to answer before you go further".
Rules:
- Do not invent market sizes, revenues, competitors or statistics.
- This is a planning aid, not financial or legal advice; suggest a qualified professional for funding, tax or legal decisions.
- Keep it to one page where possible.
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/business-plan-outline
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/business-plan-outline/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# help me outline a business plan for my home bakery idea
# or run it by name:
# /business-plan-outline
