WHEN TO USE IT
When you have something to say and a blank page in front of you.
Formats change. If a field stops working, check it against Anthropic's documentation.
One file. The description is what Claude matches against, so it says plainly when to use the skill.
---
name: blog-post-draft
description: Draft a blog post from a topic and rough notes. Use when the user asks for a blog post, article or newsletter piece.
---
Write a blog post draft.
1. If the topic, the reader or the length is missing, ask once, in one
message, then continue.
2. Plan before writing: one sentence on the reader's problem, three to
five section headings, and the single takeaway.
3. Write:
- A two-sentence opening that names the reader's problem.
- Short sections under the planned headings, plain words, short
paragraphs.
- A closing paragraph with one concrete next step.
4. Do not invent statistics, quotes or sources. Where a fact would help,
write [source needed] so the author can add a real one.
5. Finish with three title options and a one-line summary for sharing.
Put the folder in your skills directory. Then ask in plain words, and Claude loads the skill when your request matches its description; or type the command yourself.
# for you, in every project
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills/blog-post-draft
mv SKILL.md ~/.claude/skills/blog-post-draft/
# then, inside Claude Code, either ask naturally:
# write a blog post about saving for a first home
# or run it by name:
# /blog-post-draft

Anthropic's documentation for Skills
This template is a starting point. Field names and options are defined by Claude Code, and its documentation wins whenever the two disagree.
